Vacation within the good old U.S.A.!
76Travels to our beloved Oregon coast
With our tough economic times, traveling within U.S.A. helps us more
Keep our money right here at home working for us all locally if you can at all. This helps us to keep growing strong again too. We all have dreams or even plans of visiting our old countries even some family we may have over to Europe or other countries, but just put it off a few more years for now. Instead, vacation around your own states again or other parts of the U.S. you have never seen before. This keeps the U.S. currency right here, so it will not travel away from us as much as it tends to. Putting the monies back into our people and places, so that we may rebuild and regrow in strength once again. We travel, to the coast to see our beaches, and into Central Oregon to see old family friends and visit a community we used to live in as well, then back home to Eastern Oregon were we travel quite often from Pendleton to La Grande and some other surrounding areas as well. We shop at some local nurseries that sell community grown fruits and vegetables, even flowers and other plants for our own home landscaping. Shopping locally like this does keep the money all right here at our great home were it does all belong. We have family up in Alaska, that hunt and fish allot up there. They send us salmon and other meats, also keeping monies within our country this way as well. We shop at stores that support our county too such as Walmart and as often as possible family owned business's or privately owned bussiness's too. These types of companies usually keep our monies flowing well within this country too, depending on the political views of the owners. Yet, all the owner's I know of would rather this country do better financially for there own sakes as well as others so that pretty much clears that one up, right.
Love it or leave it!
This has been a slogan used from back in the days of other American wars too. Today, many do believe it refers more to our financial institutions more than ever before. Well, other that the Great Depression of course we were so very close too this as well. A Recession proves to be just about every bit as debilitating to us as the former one was. We just happen to have more resources at our fingertips today then they did back then. Having said this, should we not use as many of these resources as humanly possible to see that our country does become much stronger then even before perhaps. Our resorces being government grants, all unemployment office usage and food stamps, health care assistance. Believe it or not, all of these resources still use American monies to keep going everyday. Therefore the more often they are used the more we are all giving back, just by using them. Amazing if you ask me! If you are forced to use any of these kind of government programs, never let anybody make you feel less than or undeserving of them. Just simply remind people that these programs are a blessing to us that our ancestors did not yet have, we should be proud that our country has advanced so much to have them, not made to be ashamed of them. These very same views go along with just how the Native American believes of there free health care by our government, a very long standing and respected agreement now why shouldn't all races in our country be able to enjoy such great benefits as these as well. Our current president had such dreams for this country, and who are we to say maybe some may just come true one of these days too.
Standing on both sides of the fense
My Mother is Native American and Father Irish, my Dad who raised me is Norwegian. So, having seen both sides of what the government does for different races in our country I do have many feelings and beliefs for both sides. That I feel equally passionate about, both in heart and spirit now. Health care should most absolutely be universal already in our country by now, choosing that only one race only has free guaranteed coverage is very wonderful and a blessing to the people receiving it. Yet, to have to watch close personal family members who do not quite live up to these standards suffer through sickness and pains is not only cruel but also neglectful of our country. I know that our current president sees this too, Races have always and will always mix, love, and have children together as they always have. To just watch these children suffer in silence because you disapprove of there parents actions and even disapprove of the new race they are now blended together. This is showing the futures children that we are not only purely spiteful but also without mercy or compassion, I'm certain we do not want our future generation who will be caring for us all one day to be thinking this way, do we?

Fluffy, I just loved all these memorable photos of your travels. What a wonderful idea to share these stories and how we can help the economy, have fun, see the world all at the same time. I rated up, too! Love, Debby
America has so much to offer because it is so diverse. Thanks for sharing these wonderful photos.
Great photos...I especially like the lighthouse on the rock .....I imagine that would be a really cool place to spend a night at....you offer great suggestions about spending your vacation money here in the states versus overseas....it sounds like you have a great heritage with your mom being Native American and your dad Irish....thanks for a great hub....I enjoyed reading and seeing the West Coast...voted up
I agree Dahoglund ~ I was struck by the lighthouse photo, as well. I think it might be unanimous. I suggest you edit and add a little POLL of which photo likes best. Hugs, Debby
I liked the out home gardening picture best because you look happy, and it exemplifies how you do not have to go on a lavish vacation to have fun.
Fluffy, love your travel photos, especially the lighthouse. I also like native american decor, I think that it speaks to our souls in such a way that inspires. Your Oregon travels and keeping it within the hometown is wonderful. I was in Seattle once and the waters/ports along the piers are great for shopping.
Thanks for sharing.
I voted on the poll!
Staycations are so under-rated! Why go looking for something new when there's so much on our doorsteps!
@Fluffy77...The lighthouse is stunning, but so is the first picture of the buried ship!
Fine pictorial work on staycationing in your own area!
