The world of sleeping while sitting up

Just say no to smoking or else!

How does this one sound to you, every night for the rest of your life sitting up to sleep. Not very comfortable right, well that's just too bad because if you get lung problems or any breathing problems that require oxygen use. You will most likely either be sitting up or be elevated up in a bed every night fro the rest of your living days. So that you don't stop breathing sometime during your sleep at night. Not all cases are smoke related of course, but many people with oxygen and lung disease are indeed ex- heavy smokers. You might as well quit now, because your strong healthy lungs of today are going to give up on you one day. You will not be able to physically smoke at that point at all ever again anyway, so do whatever it takes to quit today and you won't have to ask yourself these very tough questions. Did I do this to myself by smoking all those years? Will God forgive me for slowly killing myself like I did? What would my life and my families lives would have been like if I had saved all that money I spent on cigarettes instead of just smoking it all away selfishly? I know for a fact that I don't want to have to ask myself these terrible questions and I know that people who have smoked for many years now don't either.

You are not allowed to talk of this with your elders

I have noticed a very strange and creepy phenomena with asking any questions about being related to there past bad habits cancer or breathing problems of any kind at all. Simply you are not allowed to talk about it at all period. Our Great-Grandparents were told it was a sign of being higher class to smoke since you could afford the luxury of doing so. Then our parents were told even worse lies like it would make you more popular and all the ladies would love you. Kids today are told all the same lies of course too. If there Grandparents won't even admit to it being wrong, this nasty cycle just seems to keep right on circling. There are the stubborn ones too, they say hell it's already killing me I may as well die doing something that I enjoy right. That is there right of course, but are they considering at all the example that they are setting for there now little Great-Grandchildren to have to watch. There own parents telling them, oh it's o.k. if your Grandparents smoke since there old anyway. Does that make them think that when they get older it will be o.k. for them too? Plus, the very scary issue of the smoke itself too, that has been proven to be even worse then the person smoking the cigarette in-hails. Since a non- smoker is not used to the chemicals in the smoke and the healthier lungs begin to weaken much faster than the smokers, who have already gotten used to it by now.

I used to smoke, but now I hate it people

Come on give these people some credit already, quiting this habit is harder than most people think it is.  Then, to turn around and be an advocate for kicking it now that takes some courage and guts.  Knowing what we do about the" no talking" rule from our elders, you are not to labeled a hypocrite but the brave one, really.  For having the courage to speak out about this, and let others know the true facts and just were you stand.  If people really love and care for you they will support this in you too.  There could be a real serious reason this person has turned from the smokers life, that is just too emotionally tough for them to fully share with everybody yet.  So, just sharing there hatred of it is the only step they can share so far.  It's most likely a personal health scare, that made them fully see more of what close family members have gone through because of this and therefore pushed them ever further in the non-smoking direction then they were already headed towards.  It just made matters all the worse.  This, very thing I believe has led to the push for no smoking in restaurants and bars just about every place of business.  You must even keep a legal distance now to if smoking around these places.  If you are going to pollute the air and your body do it in your own space like inside your vehicle or your home.  Even then, please keep your windows rolled up remember second hand kills!  I for one say bravo to these wonderful new laws, and hope that it encourages more people to just stop altogether.  This is the best way yet to teach the children just how evil and nasty this habit is, by making against the law.  Hopefully this sends a message of some kind more positive to the youth of today's world.  There are some very eye opening and awareness types of commercials all over t.v. now displaying people on oxygen, as an anti-smoking campaign they are truly very bold and no holds bar about the truth behind what all those big bad tobacco companies try so hard to keep hidden from us.  That cigarettes can and will kill you.

Fight the good fight with me, so if we are blessed with children they never have to loose us

History can be changed if we fight hard enough together for that change

Sad but true, you would have to abandon your child to smoke today with the new smoking laws

This form of cancer moves so very fast, you barely have time or a chance to fight it at all

Hoping one day we will all become wiser than a dog

That's why, I was not persuaded by my father, who died of lung cancer, to follow his vice (that is smoking). It's bad for our health and it will shorten our life here on Earth.

I have been very torn with this, then I just one day said enough is enough! I won't let the smoking win, I quit after my Grandmother's death, this was cancer and smoke related also. Today, I will not let a smoker into my personal life. That's how much I hate this thing, I will never stop fighting against it until my dying day. I know that now. Your comments are always welcomed.

I kicked the smoking habit 15 years ago & I can't stand the smell of a cigarette now.
