This small village rebuilt as a tool to teach

Old West American history is diverse, complicated, and very colorful indeed!!  In order to better inform new comers from other states or country's and the children, there was a small rebuilt version of the original Enterprise,Oregon town made right here in Enterprise, Oregon itself.  There are bus tours, and many road trip travelers visit it.  The main reason is preserve the town's past & history the beginnings during Oregon trail township and the first settlers of the land times in our history here.  For all generations to know and learn from.  For better or worse, the people will learn and grow in many ways from knowing were they come from, to then realize whom they do or do not wish to be or become in this great land of ours.  By learning from our forefathers mistakes and victory's here.  There is so very much to learn, we are rich in knowledge for sure!!

Black smiths shops & other work shops in town

Some of the other small buildings you see pictured here were rebuilt to represent either a black smith work shop, were many would go to have wagon's & carriages fixed or even there horses shoe's put on at times. Other work buildings were for the carpenters or masonry's of that time. There is a small wrecked boat in these pictures too to represent the many terrible floods of the time that were often very fatally tragic. These were a time of tougher problems and situations, of endings of one time into the very birth of another. Strong people came out of these times even stronger and wiser than before. Others, never made it that far but there stories never fully die here. Also, on a bit cheerier side the buildings are lighted up just like our homes and buildings for the Holidays of Christmas, it's as if the old past people's can join in this way with us together past and present all as one it's very peaceful and beautiful to see.

The old stores or places of business

This old place of business was painted nicely as a sign that the town was doing well with the business. The business's as the town homes were built near the church, in hopes that God may protect them in those tougher days.

Very small church rebuilt to symbolize settlers days here, first church

The original church rebuilt in very small scale to preserve the history of the township so it may never be forgotten.

Houses built near the old church, were painted in the Lady of the homes favorite colors

As tradition the Lady of the home picked the color the house would be painted, explaining all the feminine colored homes in pinks and pastels that still are standing today or rebuilt.

The Old West Doctor's Office

There was usually only one Doctor in the town during these hard times, and that Doctor treated and knew everybody and there families in the town very well.

The church stood for a symbol of great hope and of the prosperity of the whole community even in those very beginning days.

So you can see just how small these little building were made

The little white building next to the nicely painted building is only a small bike shed in a local home owners back yard, this example illustrates to the smallness of the rebuilt historic Old West town, made from history research books and archives.

Lake Floyd was a real lake, but no longer today

Yet another example of just what a very different time this was, is Lake Floyd actually just a small creek in town with a bit of dry land in it, Lake Floyd was said to be near the town and had an Island in it, thus the recreation of this across road.

Such "living museums" have become popular lately. We have one in Wisconsin too.Even when I grew up, a lot of old things were still around. Not so much anymore.Historical places help to visualize what it was like.

Fluffy, I love the pictures. A living museum is a wonderful visual look into the past.
